Christmas Shopping Survival Guide

We all love Christmas, it’s a chance to relax and spend time with friends and family. This Christmas, we want you to have fun. We want you to enjoy quality time with the people that matter most to you without worrying about your finances.

We all love giving and receiving gifts, but Christmas time can feel stressful, with long lists of gifts to buy and crowded shopping centres. We also know that many of us are keen to live a little more sustainably. So here at Frollo, we’ve come up with some ideas to make Christmas a little bit more sustainable and a little bit less stressful this year. So you get to spend more time having fun and less time worrying!

Set a Christmas budget

There are so many gifts to buy, the list can seem endless.  So let’s start at the beginning, and set a Christmas budget. It’s easy to do with Frollo, and will save heaps of stress in the long run.

First, think about the total amount you want to spend. Next, work out who you really need to buy gifts for. Then all you need to do is to give yourself a limit for each gift to make sure you stay within your total budget. This way, as long as you stick to your plan, you’ll stay in control of your spending. Don’t forget to tag your Christmas transactions so you can track how you’re going.

Sustainable gifts

Why not think about gifts which are more environmentally friendly this year? There are so many options out there for fun, interesting and unique gifts without breaking the bank or the planet. Here are some links to check out:

Another idea is to try making your own gifts this year, most friends and family would love to receive some home-made treats – it’s easy, fun and delicious!

For many retailers, Christmas is their main sales event for the year and a chance to target and tempt in-store customers to buy things we just don’t need.

Click-and-collect is a great alternative to avoid stressful shopping trips and retailers traps! You simply order online, then pick up when and where suits you. This way you can avoid the long queues and won’t be tempted to over buy. Once you have what you need, hit check-out.

This website has a list of retailers with links to their websites that offer click-and-collect. If you’re buying from a major outlet, chances are they already offer the service.

So, why not give it a try this Christmas and see the difference – you’ll save yourself all that stress and still have a great time!
